Enriching Minnesota’s Future Through The Biosciences
BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota Announces New Chair and Board Members
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (Sept. 25, 2008)—The BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota Board of Directors names Dr. Alex Cirillo Jr. as the new Chairman of the Board and welcomes several new members to the board of directors.
Dr. Cirillo, Vice President of Community Relations, 3M, replaces Dale Wahlstrom as the Chair for the organization. Wahlstrom served as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2005 until January 2007 when he was appointed CEO and Acting Chair of the Board. Wahlstrom remains the organization’s CEO.
“I have been involved with the BioBusiness Alliance as Co-Chair for the Destination 2025 project. Now, as Chair for the organization, I am looking forward to having a more active role in helping the BioBusiness Alliance move from a visioning phase into an implementation phase,” said Cirillo. “I believe that the strength of the Destination 2025 vision and roadmap will create the foundation for a better future for Minnesota.”
The Destination 2025 project is a statewide 20-year visioning initiative and road map to help give clarity to the nature and timing of investments that are needed for Minnesota to sustain a long-term competitive position in the industry. The final reports on the six bioscience-based industries will release in January 2009.
“Alex is a natural choice as the leader of our Board of Directors,” commented Dale Wahlstrom, CEO, BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota. “His familiarity with our activities helps build a continuity of thought as we begin working together across the state to implement plans and build a strong bioscience-based economy for the state.”
The board also welcomes three additional members: Brian Walters, President, Fargo Moorhead Development Corporation; Bruce Tiffany, Owner, Tiffany Family Farm, Redwood Falls, MN; and Robert Klepinski, Device, Food and Drug Law, Fredrikson & Byron, PA.
